National mining award finalists announced

AS PART of this year’s Excellence in Mining and Exploration forum Australia’s best miners and explorers will be recognised in the National Mining Awards, including Discovery of the Year, Producer of the Year, Deal of the Year and Growth Story of the Year.

The award categories and finalists for the 2008 National Mining Award are:

- The Discovery of the Year, sponsored by Kingsgate Consolidated: Integra Mining, Newexco and Jabiru Metals.

- The Producer of the Year, sponsored by Independence Group: Fortescue Metals Group, BHP Billiton and Panoramic Resources.

- The Deal of the Year, sponsored by Artemis Executive Search: Gindalbie Metals, Kerry Harmanis with Jubilee Mines, and Rob Neale with New Hope Coal.

- The Growth Story of the Year, sponsored by The Sydney Mining Club: Gloucester Coal, Felix Resources and Aquila Resources.

- The Frontier Explorer of the Year sponsored by Mining Journal: Citadel Resources with Ines Scotland, Central Asia Resources and Globe Metals & Mining.

- The Applied Technology of the Year sponsored by Australia’s Mining Monthly: Austpac Resources, Swick Mining, Barminco and Baleen Filters.

- Manager of the Year sponsored by RESOURCESTOCKS Magazine: WorleyParsons for Fortescue Metals Group and Rob Yeates for Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group.

Excellence in Mining and Exploration 2008 showcases some of the best opportunities in mining investment from Australia and overseas, and brings leaders in mining and exploration together with institutional, professional and private investors in a well respected and highly focused investment forum. The program culminates in a gala dinner, which this year will be chaired by former test cricket and sports commentator Kerry O’Keeffe, where the award winners will be announced.
