Mining Brief - Integra, Southern Gold, Globe Metals & Mining

GOLD hopeful Integra Mining said recent reconnaissance rotary air blast drilling at its Majestic prospect near Kalgoorlie has confirmed the presence of shallow gold mineralisation.
The best results include 8m at 2.04 grams per tonne gold and 19m at 1.1gpt gold, as well as broader intercepts including 16m at 0.86gpt gold and 12m at 0.57gpt gold. Integra is now conducting follow-up reverse circulation drilling. Shares in Southern Gold received a boost after the company announced the discovery of a large “gold in soil” anomaly at its Cannon prospect, part of the Bulong South project near Kalgoorlie.
The company believes the discovery could indicate the surface expression of more high-grade mineralised lodes, similar to Cannon, where drilling recently intersected 15m at 10gpt gold. RC drilling to test the anomaly will begin later this month. In more soil sampling news, Globe Metals & Mining has received the first results from sampling at the Machinga rare earth project in Malawi.
These indicate that almost the entire 7-kilometre strike length of a radiometric anomaly is highly anomalous in rare earth elements, niobium and tantalum. Globe entered into a joint venture deal with Resource Star in November to acquire an 80% interest in Machinga. An initial 1500m RC program is planned for the June quarter.
