Prospecting for uranium in the eastern range in Salta is progressing encouragingly, according to a statement from a representative of Australian Globe Uranium, to the Secretary for Mining, Ricardo Alonso.

The meeting was held yesterday, at the Offices of the Mining Department. “It is important that the exploration performed by this company, which was invited to invest in the province during our participation in the International Mining Fair in Canada last March, gets positive results”, Alonso remarked.

Julian Stephens, Exploration Manager of the company, which works in uranium exploration and development, explained the advances of the prospecting stage which the company is carrying out in three mining projects in Salta, located close to old uranium deposits, such as the Don Otto Field which was, decades ago, the second highest producer of the mineral in the country.

At the meeting, Stephens declared that during prospecting work they found some rocks with natural radioactive anomalies, this is, with presence of uranium, accompanied by molybdenum and vanadium. The executive also stated that, depending on the results obtained in this phase, they will start a drilling program next year.

“Until now, we have only found uranium anomalies, but in case of locating greater concentrations we are prepared to drill in 2007”, Stephens affirmed.

Furthermore, the geologist admitted that investment possibilities in Salta are very positive, based on the policies carried out by the provincial government, while he also thanked the government for the support they had received.
