Yi Shao - Chairman

Appointed as Chairman in April 2011, Yi Shao is a senior economist with significant experience in the resources, transportation and industrial sectors. Also the Director General of ECE, Yi Shao is Chairman to a number of corporations including East China Non-Ferrous Investment Holding Corporation, Australia ECE Nolans Investment Ltd and AO-Zhong International Mineral Resources Pty Ltd. 

 

Mark Sumich - Managing Director

An entrepreneur and co-founder of Globe, Mark has a wealth of managerial, financial and legal expertise. Prior to Globe, Mark held director and senior executive roles with a number of public and/or ASX-listed companies. He has also practised corporate and securities law with Clayton Utz, PricewaterhouseCoopers and other financial institutions. 

 

Tian Jingbin - Non-Executive Director

Mr Jingbin Tian is Deputy Director of the Outward Investment Department of ECE. Prior to this he worked with Jiangsu International Tender Company and led a consulting team in the utilities sector for nearly ten years. 

 

Julian Stephens - Non-Executive Director

Julian has over 16 years experience in the exploration and mining sectors and economic-structural geology research fields. Julian was Globe’s Exploration Manager from 2006-2008 before becoming an Executive Director in late 2008. 

 

Peter Stephens - Non-Executive Director

Peter has over 30 years experience and has held senior financial roles within the construction, telcos, banking, corporate treasury, manufacturing and distribution sectors in Australia and Asia-Pacific. Peter is a former independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the audit committee of Grange Resources, an ASX listed iron ore mining company. 

 

William (Bill) Hayden - Non-Executive Director

Bill is a geologist with over 36 years experience in the mineral exploration industry. Bill is currently President of Ivanhoe Philippines, Inc., former President of GoviEx Uranium Inc., and a Non-Executive Director of: Sky Alliance Resources Inc., Ivanplats Ltd, Sunward Resources Ltd and Condoto Platinum NL. 

 

Shasha Lu, Non-Executive Director

Shasha Lu is Executive Director and CEO of Hong Kong East China Non-Ferrous Mineral Resources Co. Ltd. - a wholly owned subsidiary of ECE. She holds a Degree in Medicine and a Masters from Nanjing University, China. Shasha Lu is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and currently studying for an EMBA at Nanjing University.

 

Bradley Wynne - Co. Secretary & CFO

Brad has extensive experience in the mining, oil, gas and engineering industries and is regarded for his expertise in the management and implementation of major mining and construction projects in Australia, Africa, South East Asia and the Middle East. Brad previously held senior financial management positions with companies including Xstrata Zinc, St Barbara Mines and GME Resources.

Dye Mawindo - Chairman

A Malawian national with degrees in law and business administration, Dye currently operates as a legal and business services consultant. An experienced Director, Dye has served on the boards of Old Mutual Malawi, National Bank of Malawi (the largest bank in Malawi), Malawi Property Investment Company Limited (listed real estate business), Nedbank Malawi and Illovo (South Africa).
Prior to working in the private sector, Dye held the positions of Deputy General Manager of the Malawi Development Corporation, CEO of the Privatisation Commission and Governance Adviser in the Office of the Vice President.
 

 

R.H. Martin - Non Executive Director

A Scottish national, Bob is a qualified chartered accountant and charted taxation adviser. Practicing in Malawi since 1965, Bob is a founder and twice president of Malawi’s charter body and previously worked as a Principal with Deloitte and Senior Partner at PriceWaterhouse. For the past 20 years he has managed a niche international consultancy specialising in macro-economics, fiscal reform, central banking, privatisation, restructuring and greenfield start-ups.
A former director of the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Bob holds non-executive directorships across various sectors, including one commercial bank.

Andries Kruger - General Manager Africa

A qualified geologist and holder of an MBA, Dries leads Globe’s technical teams in Malawi and Mozambique. Dries mining expertise extends to all aspects of exploration, project and general management. For 5 years, Dries’ leadership has been pivotal to the company’s operations in Africa where he is highly regarded for his regional understanding and relationships with local authorities. Dries is competent in Portuguese and registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions. A qualified geologist and holder of an MBA, Dries leads Globe’s technical teams in Malawi and Mozambique. Dries mining expertise extends to all aspects of exploration, project and general management. Francisco Couto - Financial Controller Africa

Portuguese economist, Francisco is a specialist in the development and implementation of controlling procedures and financial analysis and reporting. Francisco previously worked in the Malawian construction industry and now leads the Finance Department for Globe’s African operations.
 

 

 

 

David Tullberg - Chief Geologist

David has been involved in the mineral and exploration industries for more than 19 years. A qualified geologist, his personal interest in computing and geology led him to specialise in exploration database administration and resource estimation. Dave previously held positions with Herald Resources, Datamine Australia and Homestake Australia at Lawlers Goldmine. 

 

 

 

Michael Schultz - Regional Exploration Manager

Michael Schultz, Regional Exploration ManagA Canadian national, Michael is the primary technical geologist on Globe's African properties and is responsible for project generation and the planning and execution of major exploration programs. Residing between Malawi and Mozambique, Michael has been responsible for significant mineral discoveries including the uranium deposit at Livingstonia.
 

 

 

Les Middleditch - Manager, Kanyika Niobium Project

Les is a chemical engineer with more than 30 years experience in the mining and chemical industries. Joining Globe from Bateman Engineering, Les managed the evaluation of the giant 48 Mtpa Udokan Copper Project in Siberia. Highly regarded for his experience in the development and delivery of mining projects and studies, Les is well qualified to drive the Kanyika DFS through to completion.

 

 

 

Skye Gilligan, Marketing Manager

An experienced marketing professional with extensive experience in the oil, gas, mining and telcos sectors, Skye is responsible for developing and driving awareness of Globe’s brand and market reputation. Previously at Ernst & Young, Skye has worked in London and Japan and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chrispine Ngwena - Geologist

A qualified geologist, Chris has worked extensively in the minerals and exploration sector for more than 8 years, focussing on the extraction of coal, zinc, gold, uranium, niobium, tantalum and zircon. A Malawian national, Chris joined Globe from Saurus Resources Limited in 2007 bringing with him a wealth of experience.

 

 

 

Lisungu Banda - Accountant

Lisungu is a qualified accountant with significant resources experience. A Malawian national based in Globe’s Lilongwe office, Lisungu is responsible for all financial reporting related to Globe’s Projects in Malawi. Prior to joining Globe in 2008 Lisungu held the position of Company Accountant with Macsteel.
Lisungu is currently studying the CIMA professional Scheme and is a member of the Society of Accountants in Malawi.
